Zhi-Yuan's retaliation has come, and hits hard. However, our heroes manage to fight them off, with rock walls and some flying, flaming, ostrichhorse dung. The time has come to take the fight to them.
The five kids travel to Wildguard, Zhi-Yuan's fortress built among the eaves of the Spirit Wilds. Undaunted by the rumors and legends of the notorious jungle, our heroes use scary noises and cunning theatrics to send the bandit guards running for the hills. As they do so, they spot Zhi-Yuan and his earthbending lieutenants making a run for it through the jungle. They follow in hot pursuit.
With the help of Junzo's powerful spirit sense, they track the bandit and his lackeys through the jungle, evading a spirit bat menace that tries to make them into a meal. They find the Bandit Lord in the ruins of a large stadium. They give battle in spectacular fashion, defeating Zhi-Yuan's henchmen and holding their own against the bandit earthbender himself.
In an act of desperation, Zhi-Yuan touches a mystical tree in the center of the stadium. He vanishes, banished to the Spirit World. Then, Ona feels prompted to touch the tree, and absorbs some kind of powerful force from within the tree. She falls unconscious, and the rest of the team take her back to Wildguard. While there, Ona receives a strange vision, and accidentally reveals that she has the ability to earthbend.
Questions abound as to what new powers Ona may have acquired, and what enemies this power will create. Has Ona become the long-forgotten Avatar?
